Where the Creek Meets the River

Neshaminy State Park

A state park at the mouth of Neshaminy Creek — river walks, a working marina, and Delaware views toward the Philadelphia skyline.

Neshaminy State Park sits where Neshaminy Creek empties into the Delaware River in Bensalem — roughly 330 acres of riverfront woods, trails, picnic groves, a public swimming pool complex, and one of the few public marinas on the Pennsylvania side of the river. On a clear evening the River Walk gives you tidal marsh in the foreground and the Philadelphia skyline downriver.

The land came largely from the estate of Robert Logan, a descendant of William Penn's secretary James Logan, and the park keeps a low-key, old-parkland feel: big trees, wide lawns, and water on two sides. For a township known for its commercial corridors, it is a serious piece of protected riverfront.

The river side

The marina is the park's working heart — seasonal slips and launch access that make it one of the easiest public ways to get a boat onto the tidal Delaware in Pennsylvania. Anglers work the creek mouth and river edge for catfish, stripers in season, and whatever the tide brings.

The River Walk trail follows the shoreline through woods and marsh edge, flat and easy, with the skyline view as the payoff. It is a favorite for sunrise walkers and winter eagle-spotters — bald eagles work this stretch of river regularly now.

Parks & Nature

The everyday park

Inland from the water, the park is picnic groves, playgrounds, open fields, and the summer pool complex — a genuine public amenity in a region where swim clubs are mostly private. Summer weekends run busy and multicultural; this is one of Lower Bucks' great shared spaces.

Because it sits minutes off I-95, the park doubles as Bensalem's green front door: close enough to Philadelphia that city families day-trip to it, local enough that Bensalem residents treat it as the neighborhood park.

The Local's Take

Bensalem's reputation is Street Road and the casino; its best-kept secret is that it owns real Delaware riverfront. Neighborhoods near the park and the river corridor have a fundamentally different feel than the commercial spine, and buyers who tour both are usually surprised. If waterfront access matters to you at a Lower Bucks price, this is the corner of the township to know.
