Questions People Ask
Mobile notary — frequently asked questions
What does a mobile notary do?
A mobile notary is a state-commissioned notary public who travels to you instead of making you come to an office. I verify each signer's identity, witness the signing, and complete the notarial certificate — at your home, office, hospital room, care facility, or any convenient meeting place in and around Bucks County.
What do I need for a notary appointment?
Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport), the complete document unsigned — you sign in front of the notary — and make sure every required signer is present, willing, and aware of what they are signing. If anything is missing I'll tell you before the appointment so nothing is wasted.
Can a notary come to a hospital or nursing home in Bucks County?
Yes — hospital, rehab, and nursing home visits are one of the most common mobile notary requests, especially for powers of attorney and estate documents. The signer must be alert, aware, and able to communicate their intent, and must have acceptable identification. I handle these visits with care and discretion, and I can advise families on what to prepare before I arrive.
What is a loan signing agent?
A loan signing agent is a notary public with specialized training in mortgage closing documents. Title and escrow companies hire signing agents to walk borrowers through purchase, refinance, and home equity packages, ensure every signature, date, and initial is correct, and return the documents on deadline. Errors delay funding — which is why experience matters.
What can't a notary do?
In Pennsylvania a notary public cannot give legal advice, draft or choose documents for you, explain the legal effect of a document, or notarize their own signature. A notary also cannot proceed if a signer lacks proper ID, isn't present, or doesn't appear willing and aware. For legal questions, I'll always point you to an attorney.
What areas does Bucks Notary serve?
